Lost Children of the Carricks

For generations, the Kavanagh family have preserved and sometimes even defended the memory of the Irish shipwreck survivors in Gaspé . In recent years, Georges went so far as to persuade Parks Canada to protect the mass grave on the shores of Cap des Rosiers and secure DNA testing. Georges never tired being a witness to history and to Ireland's integration of Irish-speaking Sligo emigrants into french-speaking Canada.

I'd love to see my friend and project collaborator oral historian Georges Kavanagh, his wife Agathe O'Connor and all the other descendants of Irish famine shipwrecks get their day in the sun! Furthermore, the Lost Children of the Carricks Documentary places a spotlight on the Irish in rural Canada
