In Conversation with Michael Kelly, originally from Tarbert area, Co Kerry
Michael Kelly is now in his 90's and emigrated from the Tarbert area in the early 1950's. Initially to the UK and subsequently to Canada where he lived in Montreal, Ottawa. Michael tells his story and how he developed a love of the Irish language in later years. He spent a number of months in Ireland living in Gaeltacht areas to improve his language skills. Michael now teaches Irish in Vancouver and helped Damien McElgunn learn the language that enabled him to create an Irish language documentary that was aired on RTE TG4 about the Irish in Vancouver. In his working career, he worked with Transport Canada as a Radio Officer.
