2024-05-05
Loreena McKennitt released The Road Back Home on March 8, 2024 via Quinlan Road/UME. Described as an homage to what feels like simpler times, the album was recorded in Summer 2023 while Loreena was performing at four folk festivals in southern Ontario. The Road Back Home features 10 songs, including many pieces that date back to Loreena’s earliest days on the folk circuit and which have remained unrecorded until now.
Known as a cultural cross-pollinator and a ground-breaking leader of the contemporary Celtic Music scene, Loreena has been key in the continued exploration of the genre as roots music continues to morph and evolve.
Independently minded and whose success stems from her own determination, Loreena is a remarkable, self-made woman. Not only have her albums generated over 14 million in worldwide sales, but her credibility and her dedication to the arts have won her two Juno Awards and a Billboard Internat'l Achievement Award. Additionally, she has been nominated for a GRAMMY and was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in March of this year. Loreena is a highly acclaimed businesswoman who created an independent record label (Quinlan Road Records) in 1985 that garnered international recognition and success. She’s a major animal rights advocate, a celebrated icon of the Canadian government, and a protector of privacy against social media. Loreena is a force to be reckoned with!
